Hurstbridge Advertiser
Fantastic news from TROVE. Victoria’s third newspaper is to the “Hurstbridge Advertiser”. Some pages are already on line with more to come. It is currently focusing from 1922 -1939.
The Hurstbridge Advertiser superceded the Evelyn Observor from my understanding. It’s masthead provides a good description of its reporting area:
“This paper has a good and increasing circulation throughout the Counties of Evelyn and Bourke, comprising the Shires of Eltham, Epping, Healesville, Heidelberg, Lilydale, Templestowe and Whittlesea
Is officially recognised as the advertising medium for the districts of Arthur’s Creek, Bundoora, Christmas Hills, Cottle’s Bridge, Diamond Creek, Dixon’s Creek, Doreen, Eltham, Hurstbridge, Kangaroo Ground, Kinglake, Kinglake West, Mernda, Nutfield, Panton Hill, Queenstown (St Andrew’s), Queenstown North, Research, Smith’s Gully, Steel’s Creek, South Morang, Strathewen, Upper Diamond Creek, Watson’s Creek, Whittlesea, Yan Yean, and Yarra Glen”
This resource compliments the
The Heidelberg News 1897-1920 and The Evelyn Observer 1882-1901, which we have as desktop resources. Browesable in PDF format only. This is available at Ivanhoe, Diamond Valley and Eltham Libraries.
