Have you visited the Anzac Centenary Photo App?

The app was launched last year to enable Australians to share the spirit of remembrance and commemoration of those who served our nation.

The app now features hundreds of user submitted images taken at commemorations around Australia from the capital cities to small towns, as well as special overseas sites like Gallipoli, Turkey  and Villers-Bretonneux, France.

What’s APPening with local history

There are hundreds of thousands of apps now available for your smart phone or tablet.  There are many genealogy related ones designed to assist the recording and researching of your family history but if you have an interest in local history there are some worth exploring too.

Although there are none (that I know of) which pertain particularly to our region the following apps may be of interest:

Although popular with family history researchers,  BillionGraves would be one among these of special interest also to local historians .  HistoryPin based out of the UK is growing to be a worldwide resource for historical photographs in conjunction with its website.   Most of the world’s major art galleries and museums all have apps for their collections now.
