Wet Feet Walking




A DVD has recently been launched "Wet Feet Walking" which documents the People’s History of Greensborough Outdoor Swimming Pool.

This Community Arts Project was initiated by a local photographer and community development worker, who wanted to record and honour the old pool, and preserve the stories about this important community hub.

Photographs, interviews, soundscapes and atmospheric music are woven together to create a reflective history of the pool, told by its people. The documentary was launched on the 22nd August.

Screenings are planned during November and December at Yarra Plenty Regional Library, in the meantime if you would like to purchase a copy of the DVD contact:

Local history and the Winter in Banyule Festival

There is lots of history related activities in the Winter in Banyule festival curently underway from August 9 to 24.

Among them is the release of the DVD encompasssing the last summer at Greensborought Pool, before its major renovation.

Aboriginal culture in the Whittlesea Area

Whittlesea Historical Society invite the community to a talk entitled "Aboriginal culture in the Whittlesea area" on Wednesday 13 August 2008 at 8.00 pm at Christ Church Hall, Wallan Road, Whittlesea, behind the Church.

Dr. Gary Presland, author of "Aboriginal Melbourne" will be the guest speaker.
