Local History Month

November is Local History month at Yarra Plenty Regional Library. Special events are running at most branches. Please check our website and @Your Library brochure for more details.

Eltham Library

Eltham - Then and Now
Thursday 3 November 6.30pm-7.30pm.
Jim Connor from Eltham District Historical Society will be looking at the changes in Eltham over the last 150 years through the use of early images compared with current photographs of the same locations. Everyone is most welcome to attend and see what you can recognise.

Friday Focus

Friday 4 November, 10.30am - 11.30am
Come along and tell what it is about Eltham that you enjoy. Share your favourite undiscovered gem.

St Margaret's celebrates 150 years

Thursday 17 November 10.30am-11.30am
Geoffrey Sandy will give insight into the life and times of St Margaret's Church and reveal why the first vicar was forced out of office, and will reveal the church's treasures. Books will be available for purchase.

Kinglake: history and stories

In partnership with the Whittlesea Cultural Heritage Program
Deidre Hawkins of the Kinglake Historical Society will outline the history of Kinglake and entertain with stories of local people.

Heidelberg Historical Society will launch their brand new website with a virtual tour and slide show of local historical photos. Refreshments provided. Bookings required.

Restoring Family Photos

7.00pm – 8.00 pm
Carol Heath from Pixel to Pixel will explain how to restore heritage photos using a computer and image software.
