Bowling for 100 years
The City of Banyule’s current “Banyule Banner” May – June 2013 features a story on the City of Heidelberg Bowling Clubwhich will celebrate its 100th birthday in August. The club began after a meeting in the Heidelberg Presbyterian Church Hall. Mr. John May, the first President held the position from 1913 to 1949 with a break between 1917 and 1926. In 1914 a pavilion and four rink green was opened, with electricity, telephone, gas and sewerage connected between 1915 and 1922.
The club has grown to 140 members today with modern facilities.
